The historic residential districts in Gainesville include the Pleasant Street Historic District, the Northeast Residential Historic District, the Southeast Residential Historic District, the University Heights Historic District – North and the University Heights Historic District – South. Each one is distinctive and filled with personality, and any of them could be the site of the perfect home for your family.

The Pleasant Street Historic District features a broad mix of architectural styles that include bungalows, Eastlake Victorian, wooden frame vernacular residences, colonial and Queen Anne. Listed on the National Register since 1991, Pleasant Street is a gracious, welcoming neighborhood with tree-lined streets.

Homes in the Northeast Residential district date back to some of Gainesville’s earliest days. Platted in 1854, the community covers an 80-block section in which you will find an array of architectural styles that were common to Florida starting in the 1880s and spanning all the way to the 1950s.

First developed after the conclusion of the Civil War, the Southeast Residential Historic District is dominated by Colonial Revival and Queen Anne-style homes. Once the neighborhood of professionals and merchants at the turn of the 20th century, you’ll find a broader diversity of neighbors here today.
